Ministry Trainee

We have a vacancy for a Ministry Trainee for the year September 2026 to August 2027. The traineeship involves working in a ministry area and one day a week paid for study at the Cornhill Bible training course. Funding is provided to trainees who are also encouraged to raise finances from supporters and charitable trusts.

VISITATION CO-ORDINATOR - PART-TIME PAID ROLE

This important new role aims to enhance the support and co-ordination of visiting and care in the church family. Duties include:
  • Visiting housebound, ill, burdened, etc and ministering to them in word and prayer.
  • Liaise with staff, ministry leaders and small group leaders about any individuals needing particular care.
  • Training and empowering a team of others to visit church family members in need. 
  • Being a 'triage' for care in the church family especially where people cannot be part of a Growth Group or Growth Group leaders need extra support.
  • Making sure all related safeguarding is up to date and best practice.

INTERNATIONALS WORKER AND EVANGELISM SUPPORT - FULL-TIME PAID ROLE

The purpose of this role is to support, co-ordinate and develop work with internationals in St John’s and lead evangelism activities. Duties include: 
  • Overseeing the ministry with all non-UK nationals, integrating them into the church family.
  • Leading Global Cafe team and discipling new converts from the Internationals cadre.
  • Overseeing the evangelistic courses, identify and support course leaders and provide the practical elements needed to run courses.
  • Promoting evangelism at all levels.
  • Equipping and training the church family in evangelism.
  • A “watching eye” for ethnic minorities and promoting inclusion in the life of the church.
